The XINYOU XY-1861 is a white “super filter cotton” (过滤棉) — a thickened polyester filter-wool strip for fine mechanical filtration in aquariums. The soft, dense white floss traps suspended dirt, debris and fine particles as water passes through, polishing the water and keeping the tank clear. Supplied as a single long 100 × 13 cm strip (1-piece pack) that is easily cut to fit hang-on-back filters, top filters, sumps and filter trays.

How It Works

How to Use

Cut the wool to fit your filter tray or compartment and place it in the first (mechanical) stage so water flows through before reaching biological media. Rinse under tank-temperature water when it clogs, and replace once it no longer cleans up after rinsing.

Rinse in old tank water (not chlorinated tap water) to preserve beneficial bacteria, and replace periodically as the fibres compact.
