The XINYOU XY-1815 is a black biochemical filter sponge (生化过滤棉) for mechanical and biological filtration in aquariums and fish ponds. The reticulated 60 PPI foam has a large open surface area that traps suspended solids while hosting beneficial nitrifying bacteria, so it cleans the water physically and biologically at the same time. Each sheet measures 90 × 30 × 2 cm and can be cut to fit filter trays, sumps, top filters and large filter pools. It is reusable — rinse and reinstall many times.

How It Works

Water is forced through the open-cell foam matrix: larger particles are trapped mechanically, while the vast internal surface area becomes home to nitrifying bacteria that convert toxic ammonia and nitrite into safer nitrate. Rinse in old tank water when flow slows to preserve the bacterial colony.

How to Use

Cut the foam to fit your filter tray, sump or pool and place it in the mechanical/biological stage so water flows through it. Rinse in tank-temperature (de-chlorinated) water when it clogs; replace once the foam degrades.

Maintenance Notes

Rinse in old tank water — not chlorinated tap water — to protect the beneficial bacteria. Stagger cleaning if you run several sponges, so the biological filter is never fully reset at once.
